“One Earth, One Health” is our message to humanity, quoted by PM Modi in his recent address at the G7 Summit.

India has unequivocally highlighted the importance of adequate health infrastructure and has strongly sent out a message of “One Earth One Health” for the whole world. To combat future pandemics, the nation has called out for global unity, leadership, and solidarity. In this regard, PM Modi has robustly emphasized the special responsibility of democratic and transparent societies.

He also underscored India’s ‘whole of society’ approach to fight the pandemic, synergising the efforts of all levels of the government, industry and civil society. During the ongoing crisis, India has been very helpful to the countries in need of help.

Advocating the slogan, “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam”, India has firmly believed that the world is one family.

At a time when every country was encroached by this deadly disease, India was one of the first countries to step forward in providing global aid. The nation has relentlessly supplied vaccines to around 95 countries.

With the Indian pharmaceutical industry ranked third in terms of volume, the country has left no stone unturned in providing necessary assistance across the globe. On February 10, India had agreed to test clinical samples from abroad in its laboratories. To curb the pandemic, PM Modi has also reached out to South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) members for collaboration and collective action. Besides, the Indian government has also initiated the delivery of hydroxychloroquine to 55 countries.

To reach out to maximum people, India has also dispatched teams of Indian military doctors to countries like Nepal, the Maldives, and Kuwait. Recently, a naval ship named Kesari has also provided medical assistance to the Maldives, Mauritius, Madagascar, Comoros, and Seychelles, thus proving India to be the “first-responder” to any crisis in the region.

From development to distribution, India has always supported collective endeavours to improve global health governance. From regular phone/video calls with the global leaders to sending them medical assistance, the Indian government has set a new benchmark in Indian foreign policy, which has been widely appreciated.
