To mark the occasion of 75th Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a number of new initiatives to be applicable in the country, for instance, the launch of ‘Gatishakti’, the opening of Sainik schools for girls, among others. State Governments, too announced initiatives and launched new programmes to celebrate the Day and prepare for the road ahead. The initiatives relate to the varied areas, such as education, infrastructure, health, etc. and promise growth and development of the State.
Chief Minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal expressed his plans to prepare India’s Capital to host the Olympics after 2047, while, Odisha Chief Minister, Naveen Patnaik announced initiative for public in the health sector. Here is the rundown of important announcements made by the State Governments on August 15, 2021.
Smart Health Card for public
Odisha CM, Naveen Patnaik, announced smart health cards for 3.5 crore people in the State under the Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana. The beneficiaries of national and State food security schemes, and Annapurna and Antyodaya initiatives will get the cards under which women can avail treatment up to Rs 10 lakh per year while the other family members can avail a benefit up to Rs 5 lakh each.
Goa to get free water
As part of India@75 celebrations, Pramod Sawant, Chief Minister, Goa, announced that the State would provide 16,000 litres of free water for domestic consumers every month from September 1 this year.
The CM of Goa also announced that the first phase of the Mopa International Airport will be commissioned on August 15, 2022, at the hands of PM Narendra Modi. Further, the State has also covered 90% of its population with the first dose of the Covid vaccination.
Free tablets to students
To facilitate online studies, the Government of Uttarakhand announced, it would provide free mobile tablets to the students of Class 10 and 12 in all Government schools in the State.
Chief Minister, Pushkar Singh Dhami said, “All learning materials will be available in advance in these mobile tablets, which will facilitate them in studies.”
New Agricultural Universities in Bihar
Chief Minister of Bihar, Nitish Kumar during the 75th Independence Day celebrations, announced a number of initiatives. He announced the establishment of 3 colleges under Bihar Agricultural University, Sabour namely, College of Agricultural Biotechnology in Sabour; College of Agricultural Engineering in Bhojpur; and College of Agri & Business Management in Patna.
Among other announcements, Nitish Kumar also announced that all the development work relating to eco-tourism in Bihar will now be done by the Department of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change. A separate eco-tourism wing will be established in the Department for the said purpose. Eco-tourism policy will be developed soon to provide high-level facilities to tourists in mountainous forests and wildlife areas.
For the farmers, the CM announced that market facilities for agricultural products, for which development of agricultural market societies would be done in a phased manner. An expenditure of Rs 2,700 crore was announced for the creation of storage facilities for cereals, fruits, vegetables, fish, and making different market arrangements.
Deshbhakti curriculum in Delhi schools
Deshbhakti curriculum to be introduced in Government schools in New Delhi from September 27 as a tribute to freedom fighter Bhagat Singh, announced the Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal. The Chief Minister also expressed the Capital’s bid to host the Olympic Games after 2048.
