Indian equity indices closed higher on Tuesday. Strong buying interest was witnessed across all sectors. Titan Company was the top gainer among blue-chip stocks, surged 3.89 per cent. HDFC, Nestle, IndusInd Bank and Ultra Tech Cement were among the other top Sensex gainers. While Bajaj Auto, Tata Steel and NTPC were laggards.
Earlier in Asian Indices, South Korea’s Kospi increased by 0.44 per cent. Japan’s Nikkei 225 index declined by 0.50 per cent and China’s Shanghai Composite fell by 0.47 per cent.
The BSE Sensex and Nifty50 increased by 1.65 and 1.55 per cent respectively. The Sensex of the Bombay Stock Exchange closed at 53,823 level while Nifty50 of the National Stock Exchange settled at the 16,100 mark. The Sensex gained 872 points to trade at 53,823 and the Nifty50 rose by 245 points to trade at 16,130.
In Nifty50 index shares, Titan Company was the biggest gainer, increased by 3.89 per cent. HDFC, Nestle, IndusInd Bank, SBI and Bharti Airtel were among the other gainers.
On the other hand, JSW Steel was the worst performer in the pack, down by 0.86 per cent. Bajaj Auto, Shree Cements, Tata Steel, NTPC, UPL and Grasim were the other worst performers in the pack.
Small-cap and Mid-cap Indices
The Nifty Midcap-100 index surged by 0.05 per cent and the Nifty Smallcap-100 index declined by 0.24 per cent. In Nifty Midcap 100, Cummins gained 5.72 per cent, Godrej Industries rose 5.37 per cent, Ashok Leyland, Dr Lal PathLab and Bharat Forge also surged, while Vodafone Idea, RBL Bank and Coforge Ltd declined. In Nifty Smallcap-100, Trident gained 4.96 per cent. On the other hand, Rain Industries fell 4.21 per cent, PVR, Kajar Infibeam Avenue and IDFC declined.
In NSE sectoral indices, 15 out of 17 sectors surged. Nifty FMCG was the top performer as it gained 1.73 per cent, Nifty Service Sector rose 1.70 per cent, followed by Nifty Finance Service increased by 1.68 per cent. On the other hand, Nifty Media was the worst performer, down by 0.83 per cent, Followed by Nifty Metal declined by 0.05 per cent.
