Equity benchmark Nifty50 ended at a fresh high on Monday. Strong buying interest was seen in consumer goods, financial and metal shares. Selling pressure witnessed in select PSU bank and auto stocks. Reliance was the top gainer among blue-chip stocks, surged 3.13 per cent. ICICI Bank, Bharti Airtel, Dr Reddy’s Lab, and Maruti Suzuki were among the other top Sensex gainers, while M&M, Infosys, Larsen and IndusInd Bank were laggards.
Earlier in Asian Indices, South Korea’s Kospi increased by 0.48 per cent, China’s Shanghai Composite rose by 0.41 per cent. Japan’s Nikkei 225 index declined by 0.99 per cent,
The BSE Sensex and Nifty50 increased by 1.00 and 0.95 per cent respectively. The Sensex of the Bombay Stock Exchange closed above the 51,900 level while Nifty50 of the National Stock Exchange settled at the 15,582 mark. The Sensex gained 514 points to trade at 51,937 and the Nifty50 rose by 147 points to trade at 15,582.
In the 50-share pack of Nifty50, Reliance Industries Limited was the biggest gainer, increased by 3.12 per cent. ICICI Bank, JSW Steel, Dr Reddy’s Lab, Bharti Airtel, Tata Steel and Divis Labs Were among other gainers.
On the other hand, M&M was the worst performer in the pack, down by 4.48 per cent. Adani Ports, Infosys, Larsen, IndusInd Bank, IOC and HDFC Life were other losers in the pack.

The Nifty Midcap-100 index surged 0.31 per cent and the Nifty Smallcap-100 index rose 0.14 per cent. In Nifty Midcap 100, PNB Housing Finance gained 20.00 per cent, Nippon rose 6.17 per cent, Dr Lal PathLab, Gujarat Gas and Future Retail also surged, while Gujarat State Petro, Glenmark and Ajanta Pharma declined. In Nifty Smallcap-100, Infibeam Avenue gained 9.66 per cent. On the other hand, GMM Pfaudler fell 4.86 per cent, Lux Industries, Kaveri Seed, Strides Pharma declined.
In NSE sectoral indices, 13 out of 17 sectors surged. Nifty Metal was the top performer as it gained 2.10 per cent, NSE Energy rose 1.75 per cent, followed by Nifty Commodities increased 1.40 per cent. On the other hand, Nifty Media, Nifty PSU Bank and Nifty Auto declined.
