In order to assist India in its fight against COVID-19, Japan has declared to deliver 200 oxygen concentrators to the country.
The Japanese Foreign Ministry issued a press release, stating that “on May 12 and 13, 200 oxygen concentrators will be sent to India as a part of Japan’s emergency assistance, in response to the current surge of Covid-19 infections in India.”
This shipment is a part of the assistance package announced by the Government of Japan on April 30, which promised to provide India with 300 oxygen concentrators and 300 ventilators.
Out of this, a package of 100 oxygen concentrators already arrived in India on May 8.
The Global community has aided India to combat its second wave of COVID-19 with supplies of medical equipment needed to survive COVID patients.
In the same regard, Japan declared that it will “continue to steadily implement its support as part of efforts to contain the COVID-19 situation in India.”

In another major boost for India’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Government of Japan and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) India have joined hands to provide oxygen generation plants to the North Eastern Region in India.
UNDP India in a press release stated that “hospitals, with a capacity of approximately 1,300 beds in total, have been identified in the region for these oxygen generation plants. Excess oxygen will be distributed among other health facilities in the hospitals’ vicinity. The installation sites are also being prepared so that the oxygen production can start at the earliest possible.”
