Supreme Court committee releases ‘e-court Services Mobile App manual’. Here is all you need to know about it..
The pandemic has made almost every sector comfortable with this digital era. Recently, the Supreme Court’s E-Committee has released a Manual for its free ‘e-Courts Services Mobile App’. What is e-Courts Services Mobile app?
Union Ministry of Law and Justice made many significant initiatives in the year 2020. It worked in mission mode to initiate digitisation.Under this, eCourt project was started and as part of the project, 7 platforms were created to provide real time information on case status, cause lists, judgements through messages. ‘e-Courts Services Mobile App’ is one of the citizen-centric mobile app. ‘e-Courts Services Mobile app’ is already benefiting litigants, citizens, lawyers, law firms, police, government agencies and other Institutional Litigants.
One can get to know the status of a case through a CNR number. CNR is a unique number assigned to each case filed in District and Taluka courts in India. If not by CNR, one can get to know the case status by searching case number, party name, filing number, FIR Number , advocate name and relevant act of the case. The app is available on playstore and has more than 57 lakh downloads.
What’s the new manual?
The manual has been released in 14 languages so as to reach every corner of India. The languages are English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarathi, Kannada, Khasi, Malayalam, Marathi, Nepali, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil and Telugu. Regional language manuals have also been updated on high court sites. It uses screenshots to give a clear picture with examples to app users.

Supreme Court Judge and the Chairperson of e-Committee Dr. Justice Dhananjaya Y Chandrachud said, “The e-Committee of the Supreme Court has been at the forefront of introducing digital reforms in the field of law. In the past one year, the pandemic has also pushed advocates, judges and litigants to adopt high tech solutions due to the closure of offices and courts in light of lockdowns and public health concerns”. He further said, “Working remotely, virtual courts, digital workplaces and electronic case management have become integral to how the legal profession is practiced and conducted.

eCourts Services Mobile App has been widely hailed as an effective Electronic Case Management Tool (ECMT). It is becoming really important for advocates. The tool enables a lawyer to efficiently manage-

How to use e-Courts Services Mobile app?
Download it from playstore
Use configure option in side menu to manage your cases from high court to district courts or both
If you know CNR number type it in the ‘search by CNR’ box
Incase of not having CNR Number, click on option just below it and choose the option which you have rom the dropbox and the result will be displayed
