Prime Minister Narendra Modi held another meeting with the state and district officials on the COVID-19 situation via video conferencing today.
During the interaction, the officials briefed Prime Minister Modi about the improving covid situation in their districts. They shared their experience of using technology for real-time monitoring and capacity building. Officials also informed about the steps taken to increase public participation and awareness in their respective districts on COVID-19.
Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister urged everyone to ensure full commitment to fight the pandemic. ‘’In the midst of these new challenges, new strategies and solutions are needed’’, PM added.
Prime Minister Modi lauded state and district authorities, saying that their field experiences and feedback helped them develop realistic and successful policies. The Prime Minister stressed on the need to use local experiences and work together as a country.
He asked the citizens to follow the COVID-appropriate behaviour, even when the cases are declining.
He urged the officials to devise their strategy in a rural and urban specific way and ensure that Rural India is COVID free. Prime Minister Modi remarked that every epidemic has taught us the importance of continuous innovation and change in our ways of dealing with epidemics. He emphasized that the methods and strategies in dealing with the pandemic should be dynamic as the virus is an expert in mutation and changing the format.
On vaccine wastage, the Prime Minister said wastage of a single vaccine means not being able to provide the necessary security to an individual.
The Prime Minister further underlined the need of saving lives. He stated that free ration for the poor, as well as other basic items, should be supplied, and black marketing should be prohibited. ‘’These steps are important to win this battle and to move forward’’, PM Modi said.
